The Basic School of Arts

The Basic School of Arts at 133 Veveří Street is the third oldest school of this kind in Brno. It was founded in 1950 and only playing the piano, violin, accordion and solo singing and dancing were taught. 192 students attended the school. But the fifty years have brought a great upsurge. Mainly the political changes after the year of 1990 caused enlargement and enrichment in the work of schools of arts - in their inner as well as public activities.

Nowadays the school offers teaching in all four artistic branches - musical, visual, dance and literary-dramatical one. Almost since the beginning of its existence the school has been taking part in the cultural life of the city of Brno and has been in touch with other artistic schools in the Czech republic and abroad.

The school also co-organizes international Mozartian contests AMADEUS for young pianists under 11.

Every year many students continue studying artistic branches at secondary schools and universities and become professional artists.

Anyway, the main and the most important aim of the school is to influence the lives of the children and their parents and relatives, to enrich their lives with arts from an amateur to a professional level.

As the school is attended by excellent young artists, there appeared an idea to give them a chance to apply their ambitions in a multitheatrical project and thus present the school in full. In other words, to put all the best that the school has on one stage, in one project.

We are convinced that for such purposes the form of multitheatrical production is the most suitable and the most interesting (although the most demanding).

Thanks to this project the school makes contacts with artistic schools in abroad (e.g. Utrecht, Leipzig etc.)
